John is a native of Newcastle under Lyme in Staffordshire. He is married to Sandra a confirmed non golfer. They have a son and daughter and two grandchildren. He joined the Club in 2000 following his retirement from working in the chemical industry. In the latter years of his career he set up with colleagues a company that specialised in managing hospitality for industry, retail and government agencies. His role in the company was MD and he retired in 1998. His hobbies in addition to golf are fly fishing for salmon and trout, gardening, football and he is a supporter of his local Probus Club.

Whilst Bryan wasn’t born in the north east he grew up in Hartlepool so he is officially classified as a monkey hanger. His work brought him and his wife Christine down to Manchester in the late seventies, however his career took them overseas to Africa, the Middle East and Norway where their daughter was born. After finally settling down in the eighties he completed his working life in engineering before his retirement two years ago, once again travelling extensively overseas, this time to Europe, the Far East and India, a place he is fascinated by.

Even though not a golfer herself Christine encourages her husband to play as much as possible!!
He has been a member at Hazel Grove for eight years and whilst he plays off a handicap of 12 does not consider him self to be a good golfer just one who has a good round once a year.

Jim grew up in Durham, eventually coming to Cheshire in the early 1960s and is now enjoying retirement. He joined Hazel Grove Golf Club as a Senior in 1999, becoming Senior’s Captain in 2005. He has always been an active member of the club and is married to Mary who is also a member of Hazel Grove.
Jim was elected Seniors Secretary in 2012, and manages the day to day organisation of the Seniors Section Social Activities and Inter-club matches. He now plays off a handicap of 15.

John was born in Cardiff, South Wales and, after a “lifetime” in banking, retired in 1998 having worked in Blackpool, St Annes on Sea, Newcastle upon Tyne, Preston, Manchester, Middleton, Newcastle under Lyme, Stretford & Manchester again. He is married to Pauline who is happy to be a non-golfer! They have a son and daughter and three grandchildren ranging from 5 years to 20 years.

John joined Hazel Grove Golf Club in 1996 and served as Seniors Captain in 2006 and Club President in 2012. He served on the Centenary Committee for 4 years and is usually around on a Thursday volunteering his time with the “Working Party”.
