Lady Vice Captain's Charity

My chosen charity for this year is the Barnabus Homeless Charity based in Manchester.

Winter for most people is a time to turn on the heating and dig out warm coats. It’s also the months when many, especially in larger cities like Manchester, confront an intensified awareness of the people sleeping rough on our streets.I feel very passionate about this charity and also very privileged that I have a roof over my own head.

Barnabus is a Christian Homeless Charity which has been providing a lifeline to the homeless in Manchester for over 25 years. Last month alone they supported 603 individual homeless people calling in for help at their drop-in centre at 61 Bloom Street, Manchester. They offer help with accommodation, rehabilitation, practical support, healthcare, skills training and links to employment opportunities. They also offer a range of creative activities and volunteering opportunities including peer mentoring to build confidence, skills and wellbeing.

I will be holding various fundraising events throughout the year and really hope you will support me and my cause.

Charitable donations are absolutely essential in enabling this great work to continue so I appreciate any help and support I can get. Each and every pound you donate will make a real difference to the level of care and support given to homeless people.

I hope this meets with your approval and that we can look forward to some fun next year raising money for this great charity. THANK YOU.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish the Lady Captain and all our members a great year ahead.
